Default FOW skill set, good, bad, or just ugly?!

OwUUM0W8U4OzkSym2C06gC1juIA

ROF
Sig of Devotion
Dismiss Condition
Inspired Hex
Blessed Light
Energy Tap
Protective Sprit
Heaven's Delight

Pls help... I've been away from GW for a few months. I realize the old Boon Prot monk is no longer in vogue. I put together this skill set, but get nasty comments from the groups I've joined. I've used this a couple of times without any problems. IDK maybe the groups I've been in were kick-ass and maybe could have made it though without a monk. In any case, I would appreciate some alternatives with maybe a short explanation as to why my skill set is so bad....?!

Thx in advance

For those of you who're lazy, the build is:

Reversal of Fortune
Signet of Devotion
Dismiss Condition
Inspired Hex
Blessed Light
Energy Tap
Prot spirit
Rebirth

10 Prot, 11 Divine, 10 Inspiration.

... Anyho - Energy Tap sucks. 7 energy return every 28 seconds, WITH A 3 SECOND CASTING TIME, is horrendous.

Sorry Stormlord-I edited to my correct skill set(rebirth chg'ed to Heaven's Delight) during your post...the Rebirth was a request from last group I was in before I was kicked....

I agree, takes forever for Energy Tap to kick in, however I pick when I use it, and it really seems to help kill the foe due to energy denial. What would you recommend in it's stead? Good fast response btw...

Personally?

Well... FoW is a nightmare for hexes - Empathy, SS, Deep Freeze, even Incendiary Bonds is good to remove.

If you wanna stick with Blessed Light, go /E, take Glyph of Lesser Energy over Energy Tap, and run Deny Hexes over Inspired.

Also, you can sink some points into Healing Prayers for Gift of Health. Prots can be a bit iffy in FoW, what with every mob packing Shatter, Rend or Drain Enchants, so a straight-up heal can be useful.

... do you have Nightfall?

NF-you bet! Working though it now.

I tried GLE for awhile, but didn't give it a really good work out. I'll put it back in and give it a spin again.

Thank you for the input. I miss being a "darn good monk".

GoLE is definitely the stronger choice compared to energy tap. In almost exactly the same recharge cycle, it provides an extra 15 energy compared to 7 (I'll take alex's word for it) when casting 10 energy skills, doesn't require an investment of 10 attribute points (which means you get more prot/divine favor for more efficient monking), and it makes it so you don't waste 3 seconds using energy tap mid-battle and not healing. The you take deny hexes for a powerful 3 hex removal.

Heaven's delight is a weak party-wide heal that could be replaced with a more direct heal like gift of health. Chances are, there will be some other heal monk with either a heal party of LoD, which is enough for the splash damage caused in FoW. If your entire party is taking so much damage that it can't be healed by LoD, then there's a problem with the party and HD won't save it. Gift is a very good replacement.

Sig of Devotion
Dismiss Condition
Deny hexes
Blessed Light
GoLE
Protective Sprit
Gift of health

12 divine, 10 prot, 8 heal

Use your skills wisely and spam Sig Devo and energy shouldn't be a problem.

Those are some fine picture caps you got there Drupal...

btw, just to clarify for me, those results are typically found only in the FOW type areas(lot's of foes a-swarming), is that correct?

After seeing the pictures I had to try "Seed of Life" for myself, which I did in P vs E(just outside of Mihanu Township, NF). results there were not all that impressive, but that could have been the area I was in. It really looks like their ought to be a "55 Monk" type exploit for that spell(say the Vermin just outside of Senji's Corner perhaps?) lol.

Stormlord Alex I kinda got the feeling you may have a favorite NF elite skill you prefer/recommend(your reference to NF)?

Alas, Seed of Life is a hard one to pin down - you get the most straight healing out of it when there's a tank taking all the aggro, however... If there's a tank taking all the aggro, Seed of Life is doing very little.

And I asked about Nightfall because Divert Hexes > hex spammers.

Seed of Life is a good choice if you have a bonder monk in your party for FoW... simply throw Seed on the bonder and whenever any bonded party member takes damage everyone is healed.

OIC ca_aok, cool man, kool!

Stormlord Alex-

Man, I sure could have used DivertHexs in the Grand Court of Sebelkeh mission! Just when you think you've captured all the elite spells any rational human being could want...lol, OMW for yet another...

Thanks guys.

Seed of life is a sunspear skill that you can get in sunspear great hall. It's a very nice skill on a divine favor bar.

yes that imo is the best yous for seed tho it is very nice when ur tank as almost all of the aggro but theres that one foe who's bashing away or wand spiking your team it

A) covers as another healing seed, so can save you healing the tank for 8-10 secs

and

B) heal up the one person being wand spiked or the MM/orders/bip who's sacing himself, so it saves you wasting 15e when you could only have to use 5 ( with GoLE)

As said, just cast it on the bonder. But beware this skill makes you lazy in FoW

its true that seed of life makes you lazy..

this is my opinion on fow healer build:
WOH
signet of devo or signet of revvujenation or whatever its name
orison
etheral light
Healing Touch(selfheal)
glyph of lesser energy
Holy Haste(makes faster healing)
rebirth

this is also my standard woh build(word of healing),I gotta say dont mix prot with heal or other way,if you are gonna heal then max heal and divine, only use +5energy based skills for so u dont get low on energy in hard situations,if you do get low,use gole:

12 Divine(I use 15)
12 Healing(I use 16)

thing that Im not having seed of life its cuz I want a challenge,if you do take seed of life u get lazy and depends on the skill..

I only uses seed of life in SOR build in prot when Im vanqushing.
